That’s more than double of the original price. The Chicago Tribune quoted Robert Zoellick the President of World Bank saying that around 100 million people are pushed into poverty because of the food prices.

Austin, TX (ZprymeNews) April 28, 2008 -- The transactions that involved Russian-based companies according to Ernest and Young Transaction Advisory Services 2007 on Mergers and Acquisitions in the CIS: Market Overview, reached $71 billion in 2006 which includes $11.4 billion of foreign acquisitions made by Russian-based companies. These figures show that acquisitions grew by more than 41 percent since 2005. The largest acquisitions involved metals and mining which overtook that of the oil and gas industries. Other sectors which showed active participations were the financial services, the media, and the retail sector.
