Austin, TX (ZPRYME NEWS) – 04/15/08 - Thailand used to block websites that the government thought were dangerous or controversial for public consumption. According to Jurist Legal News and Research, “The government of Thailand announced Tuesday it was abandoning a law that allowed the cabinet to censor political or controversial Internet sites based solely on the Minister of Communication's discretion.” This does not mean that it abandoned its policy of censorship, websites will still be blocked but there needs to be a court order.
Vietnam: A Closer Look in Vietnam’s Internet Filtering - Zpryme

Vietnam chose to decrease the Vietnamese citizen’s exposure to sexually explicit sites. According to an August 2006 Fox news report, “Vietnam purports to prevent access to Internet sites primarily to safeguard against obscene or sexually explicit content.”

Michael Malakata, from the International Data Group News Service reported that, “East African countries are coordinating efforts to pass cybercrime laws that would be similar to ones in the Southern African Development Community (SADC) region, according to government officials.”
