The Mexican government estimated that the economy grew by at least 3% and will still continue to grow for the year. According to Bloomberg, “Mexico’s Finance Ministry estimated the economy grew 3 percent in the first quarter and budget surplus of 100.8 billion pesos.” Converted to dollars, that is around $9.6 billion. For the rest of the year, the economy is expected to grow another 2.8 percent.

However, the figure does not include the undisclosed or private deals and transactions. In 2005, the deal value was about $6.5 billion which increased in 2006 to $8.3 billion. In terms of cross-border deals, Mexico-based companies doubled the 10 deals in 2005 to 20 deals in 2006.
